General Information

+What is IB Hub?

IB Hub is an IB-only agency which offers flexible, online support to IB students in all major IB subjects as they require. We offer high quality, individualised tuition to our students to help them achieve their goals and maximise their potential. We aim to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for our students allowing flexible academic guidance across any subject as required.

+How does online IB tutoring work?

Our private IB tutoring sessions are conducted online via our web-based interactive whiteboard. Our platform has both audio, video, screenshare and collaborative document capacities which ensure an engaging experience. Our sessions are focused around your highest priorities and involve continuous goal setting, tracking and evaluation to target areas of growth. Learn more about how it works here.

+Will I like online tutoring?

We find most students do. Unlike a lot of remote learning from early-2020 our sessions have always been designed to be delivered online. We find that our one-on-one platform is highly interactive and emulates the engaging nature of in-person tutoring. Plus, online tutoring gives our tutors access to thousands of resources at their fingertips allowing for a more adaptable, personalise experience. We offer a no-obligation free trial session so we recommend you try for yourself.

+What subjects do you offer?

We offer tuition in most major IB subjects. Feel free to check out our list here.

+What is a normal number of sessions to buy?

It does depend on your requirements. We recommend for subjects you find challenging the more regular your sessions (e.g. weekly or twice weekly), the better for your progress. However, if you’re looking for casual support across all your subjects, we’re super flexible and don’t require you to commit to regular times. In general 10 or 20 session packages will be great for casual or semi-regular tuition across 1-2 subjects. For multiple subjects, or regular tuition you may find 30 session packages offer better value. Feel free to contact our Academic Consultants to chat further about your specific requirements though.

+Do I need any special equipment or software to do online tutoring sessions?

No, nothing special. Our online whiteboard platform is accessible via your web browser with no additional downloads. We do recommend using headphones for the best audio experience, additionally you will need relatively stable internet speeds to ensure your connection doesn’t drop out. Some students prefer using digital graphic tablets (which can be found relatively inexpensively on Amazon) to interact more easily with the whiteboard but this is by no means essential.

Our Tutors

+Who are my IB Hub tutors? How are they qualified to teach me?

Our IB Hub tutors are high performing IB graduates who, on average, scored 42+/45 points with 7s in the Higher Level of the subject in which they tutor. +Do my tutors have WWVP/WWVC cards?

Our tutors have the passed the appropriate regulatory checks and posses any certifications necessary to deliver online tutoring sessions.

+I would prefer to have a female tutor for personal or cultural reasons, is this possible?

We will try our best to accomodate these requests subject to tutor availability.

+Is it easy to swap tutors if I need or want to?

Our tutor matching process is based on both psychology and expertise yielding effective tutoring partnerships in most cases. However, should you wish to change your tutor at any time feel free to let us know. We will ensure discretion and confidentiality for any tutor swaps based on personality grounds.

+How do I become a tutor?

Feel free to check out our Careers page for more information about becoming a tutor.

Free Trial Sessions

+What is a free trial session?

A free trial session is our way of letting prospective students see if IB Hub is a fit for them. Basically, our free trial sessions are a 45-minute version of our regular sessions with the same great tutors using our resources and online tutoring platform.

+What do you do in a free trial session?

Our tutors will shape the session around your requirements. Ultimately, we aim for the trial session to emulate the goals of our regular sessions: namely, being highly targeted, efficient, and useful in bridging a learning gap or excelling in an area of opportunity. However, if there’s something more specific you want to cover, like an IA, EE or past paper, just raise it at the start of the session, or let our Academic Consultant team know and we’ll pass it on to your tutor.

+Is it worth having a free trial session?

Absolutely! Our free trials are no obligation which means there’s nothing for you to lose. We try to make trial sessions are useful and targeted as possible to give you actionable advise and guidance.

+I have a busy schedule, when are your tutors available?

Our tutors have flexible availability throughout the week and on weekends. We're sure that we can find a time to cram into your busy schedule. In fact, one of the things our current students love most about online IB tutoring is that you can learn on your own terms from the comfort of home.

+Do I have to continue with IB Hub after a free trial session?

No. We totally understand that tutoring is all about your fit with the tutor and style of tuition. If you find that at the end of your session you aren’t interested in continuing sessions with us, that’s more than fine.

+Can I have a free trial session in more than one subject?

Unfortunately not. We suggest you choose a trial session in the subject you finding most challenging or is most relevant to upcoming deadlines (e.g. IAs, mocks etc.). If you’re looking for tutoring in multiple subjects you can be assured that our high standard of tuition is consistent across all tutors. Alternatively, let us know and we can book you in for a heavily discounted session in another subject.

+How do I continue after a free trial session?

We’ll be in contact after your session to get your feedback and thoughts on the trial. From there, our team will walk you through the next steps in the process, fee and booking information, and address any questions you might have. If you’ve had a session and haven’t yet received a call or email, please contact us.

Sessions and Booking Information

+How do I book a session?

You can book a session via our scheduling platform here. Alternatively, please let your tutor know at the end of your session, or contact our friendly team to book one manually.

+Can I reschedule or cancel a session?

Yes. You are able to cancel or reschedule your sessions without charge uptimes to 48 hours prior to any booked session. If you cancel your session prior to this deadline any session package hours will be credited back automatically. We unfortunately cannot accept cancellation or reschedule requests less than 48 hours in advance except in exceptional circumstances, read more here. Please contact our team, not your tutor, about any cancellation request.

+Can I book longer sessions?

Yes! You can book sessions of any length in increments of one hour. However, suggest in the interests of productivity you book sessions of no more than 2 hours in length.

+Do you accept work before my session or does this require an additional fee?

Your tutors are more than happy to accept reasonable amount of work prior to sessions without charge. If you are submitting entire essays or extended response questions your tutor may elect to review it with you in a session for more appropriate feedback.

+Do I have to have my video on?

If possible we suggests students to keep their cameras on. This allows our tutors to gauge your response to their teaching and alter if necessary. Additionally, it may help you keep your concentration throughout the session. However, if there are any personal or technical reasons why this is not possible we have no formal requirement to keep video on.

+Do I have commit to the same time every week?

No! Our biggest strength is our flexibility. You can use your package hours flexibly whenever suits you. We do find that students who are finding a particular subject challenging benefit from regularity in session frequency, but this is not a requirement.

+Can I just have tutoring in a subject as a one-off?

Absolutely! Our agency model means IB Hub is a one-stop-shop for all your tutors. You can use your package hours flexibly across any subject, at any time without limitations.

+Can I do small group tutoring with a friend or two?

We do offer limited small group tutoring opportunities. If you and a friend (or two) wanted to tutor with IB Hub we’re more than happy to organise a group session. Group sessions packages will be discounted 40% off the usual rate. Please contact us for any group tutoring requisition.

+What happens if I still have leftover sessions after I finish exams?

Your sessions are transferrable to any siblings and do not have an expiry date. We do, however, recommend you use all sessions prior to exams for maximum benefit.
